When it comes to energizing a football field, few can match WWE icon Hulk Hogan, and Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell certainly holds his own.

The two met during the Lions’ training camp on Wednesday, with Hogan coming straight from his speech at the Republican National Convention.

After assessing Campbell and having a chat, Hogan shared with reporters his optimistic expectations for the Lions this season.

He even suggested that Campbell “missed his true calling” by opting for a career in football.

“I foresee greatness for this team. I might just have to become the new mascot, brother, and lead the charge,” Hogan stated, as reported by MLive.com. “Oh, [Campbell’s] definitely got the ‘it’ factor. I just wish he could have been my tag-team partner. He’s so full of energy, I’d let him do all the heavy lifting in the ring and then tag me in for the grand finale. I’d drop the leg and claim all the fame.”

“Yeah, he could have easily been a wrestler, no question about it. He might have bypassed his true calling.”

When asked what Campbell’s wrestling persona could have been, Hogan suggested “Dirty Dan,” adding that “Dirty Dan” would energize fans with “Campbell Mania,” a nod to Hogan’s own “Hulkamania.”

No visit from Hulk Hogan would be complete without a WWE-inspired promo! With Campbell by his side, Hogan faced the cameras and delivered a line as if he were ready to step into the ring.

“My new tag-team partner, Campbell Mania, brother, is going to run wild this year,” Hogan declared, sporting a Honolulu blue bandana that matched the Lions’ colors. “Super Bowl, nothing but triumph, nothing but success. So, whatcha gonna do when the Detroit Lions and Campbell Mania run wild on you, brother? Whatcha gonna do?!”

As a 12-time world champion in WWE and WCW, Hogan’s confidence about the Super Bowl could very well hold some truth.

The Lions clinched the NFC North title for the first time since 1993 with an impressive 12-5 record last season. They continued their strong showing in the playoffs, advancing to the NFC title game.

In that game, the San Francisco 49ers mounted a comeback in the second half to secure a spot in the Super Bowl, while Campbell opted to go for it on two pivotal fourth downs, both within field goal range, which didn’t pan out.

Nonetheless, the Lions firmly backed their head coach, who consistently placed faith in his offense during fourth-and-short plays throughout the season.
