Djokovic has only suffered defeat in three out of his ten Wimbledon finals, with two of those losses coming at the hands of Alcaraz.

He has claimed a Grand Slam title on all three surfaces, and perhaps most worryingly for his opponents, the major tournaments seem to enhance his resilience.

Remarkably, he holds a 12-1 record in fifth sets, having not lost one since the 2022 Australian Open when he was just beginning to make his mark, and he has successfully rallied from two sets to one down at both Wimbledon and Roland Garros.

His powerful shots are ideal for hard courts, while he possesses the agility needed for clay and finesse for success on grass.

Nonetheless, he has encountered injury issues in recent years. The Spaniard had to withdraw from the conclusion of the 2022 ATP Finals due to an abdominal injury and missed the Australian Open a few months later due to a hamstring problem.

“The main adversary in Alcaraz’s career to date has been injuries,” remarked Kyrgios.

“This marks only his eighth tournament this year, so if he can overcome that and discover what suits his body, I believe nothing will hold him back.”

With the spotlight now on the Olympics, taking place on the Paris clay where Alcaraz celebrated his third Grand Slam victory, many are curious about who might pose a challenge for the title.

As Djokovic approaches the twilight of his career, attention turns to emerging talents, with Henman mentioning Italy’s Jannik Sinner, Denmark’s Holger Rune, and American Ben Shelton as potential rivals for Alcaraz.

“There are numerous players eager to step up – Jannik Sinner currently holds the world number one ranking, and they have an exciting rivalry ahead,” Henman noted.

“However, for me, Alcaraz’s versatility and the skills he can deploy on every surface make for a captivating display.”

Alcaraz commented: “I believe it is beneficial for tennis to have new faces emerging as champions and competing for major titles.”

“I think it’s fantastic for the sport and for the players too.”
