Anna Henderson secured a silver medal for Great Britain in the women’s time trial at the Paris Olympics, narrowly beating the USA’s Chloé Dygert by less than a second.
Competing in damp and challenging conditions that caught out several riders, Henderson finished the 32.4km course through central Paris with a time of 41 minutes 10.7 seconds, finishing 1:31 behind Australia’s Grace Brown, who took gold.
Dygert was one of the riders who fell, which proved to be pivotal as she lost the 15-second lead she had over Henderson at the first intermediate checkpoint, ultimately finishing just nine-tenths of a second behind the Brit.
