On Saturday, Huang Yuting and Sheng Lihao from China secured the inaugural gold medal of the 2024 Paris Olympics, defeating South Korea’s Keum Ji-hyeon and Park Ha-jun in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team final, with a score of 16-12.
This victory marks China’s 68th medal in shooting and the 27th gold. Huang achieved her first medal in the sport, while Sheng added this gold to his silver from the 10-meter air rifle at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics.

The duo’s triumph in Paris follows their gold win at the World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan last year.
This was the first Olympic medal for the South Korean team. Keum previously secured a gold in the women’s 10-meter air rifle at this year’s World Cup.
Kazakhstan’s Alexandra Le and Islam Satpayev clinched the first bronze medals of the Paris Olympics, defeating Germany’s Anna Janssen and Maximilian Ulbrich with a score of 17-5.
Le and Satpayev had previously triumphed over Great Britain’s Seonaid McIntosh and Michael Bargeron on Thursday.

Kazakhstan earned eight bronze medals at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. At the 2016 Rio Games, their haul consisted of 17 total medals: 10 bronze, five silver, and two gold.
The Kazakhstan team previously had only three medals in shooting. Following this latest event, they now boast additional bronze medals.
Sergey Belyayev won two silver medals in the men’s 50-meter rifle prone and in the 50-meter three-position rifle at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, while Vladimir Vokhmyanin secured gold in the men’s 25-meter rapid fire pistol.
China’s Yang Qian and Yang Haoran emerged victorious over the United States’ Mary Tucker and Lucas Kozeniesky to take gold. The bronze medal went to the Russian Olympic Committee’s Yulia Karimova and Sergey Kamenskiy, who bested South Korea’s Kwon Eun-ji and Nam Tae-yun.
