In another comment, Gauff mentioned, “All the tennis girls moved to a hotel except me. So now it’s just five girls sharing two bathrooms.”

The Olympic Village has generated discussion leading up to the Paris Olympics. While tight quarters were a concern, the absence of air conditioning also raised issues.

Organizers behind Paris 2024 opted not to install air conditioning units in the village accommodations. Instead, they created a cooling system utilizing naturally cold water drawn from 70 meters below ground, which will circulate through building floors to help regulate apartment temperatures.

This decision aligns with the organizing committee’s ambition to halve the carbon footprint of the Paris Games and host the most sustainable Olympics ever, utilizing innovative technologies to provide natural cooling solutions, even during a potential heat wave.
