- Euro 2024 finalists Palmer, Gallagher, and Cucurella will skip Chelsea’s tour
- Enzo Fernandez is expected to join the tour on Monday despite controversy surrounding him
- Chelsea still has matches scheduled against Celtic, Club America, Man City, and Real Madrid during their tour
Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, and Marc Cucurella will not be traveling with Chelsea to the United States for their pre-season tour, as the three Euro 2024 finalists are granted additional time off following the tournament.
Cucurella played the entire match in the final, which Spain won, assisting on the decisive goal just a week before Chelsea’s pre-season trip.
According to Mail Sport, the club has no plans to bring the trio to start training under new head coach Enzo Maresca in preparation for the upcoming Premier League season.
While bringing them in for the latter part of the tour was considered, the decision was made for them to return to Cobham for specific training and to await their teammates’ return.
Considering the time zone differences, it might have posed more challenges than benefits.

Palmer netted England’s sole goal in the Euro 2024 final against Spain. Just two days after that loss, he began training with his personal trainer, aiming to build on a stellar season with Chelsea.
Simultaneously, Enzo Fernandez is scheduled to reunite with his teammates in the U.S. following a scandal arising from a video he posted after Argentina’s Copa America victory, which drew backlash for racist content.
Fernandez is expected to arrive on Monday, where he will have to address the controversy brought on by his social media post showing the Argentinian squad singing a racist and homophobic chant about France.

Chelsea has four remaining games scheduled in the United States. They will take on Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic at Notre Dame Stadium in Indiana at 9 PM (UK time) on Saturday.
The Blues will then travel across the U.S. for a match against Club America in Atlanta, followed by a game against Premier League rivals Manchester City in Ohio, concluding with a match against Real Madrid in Charlotte, North Carolina.
