Mail Sport has partnered with The National Lottery to deliver exclusive video content featuring our greatest Olympian, Sir Steve Redgrave, every day during the Olympic Games in Paris. Sir Steve, winner of five gold medals, is celebrated as one of our greatest Olympic heroes.
At the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Team GB claimed only one gold medal, achieved by Steve and Matthew Pinsent. This was in the era before National Lottery funding transformed the landscape for British athletes.
Thanks to National Lottery supporters, Team GB has become a major force on the global stage, winning 22 gold medals and 64 in total at the last Olympics in Tokyo.
