A video featuring Vice President Kamala Harris discussing the “climate anxiety” experienced by young people, which leads them to reconsider significant life choices such as purchasing a home or starting a family, is gaining attention again, even though it was recorded nearly a year ago.
Donald Trump Jr. shared this resurfaced video from September 2023, showcasing the likely Democratic presidential contender making these remarks during her nationwide “Fight for Our Freedoms” college tour.
“WATCH: Resurfaced video reveals Kamala Harris suggesting that young individuals might hesitate to have children because of climate change,” Trump stated in a post on X. “She describes climate anxiety as ‘the fear of the future and the unknown regarding whether it makes sense to even consider having children.’”
During her visit on September 19, 2023, Harris addressed a gathering at Reading Area Community College in Berks County, Pennsylvania.
HARRIS ASSERTS ‘CLIMATE ANXIETY’ IS CAUSING YOUNG PEOPLE TO QUESTION THE ‘SENSIBILITY’ OF HAVING CHILDREN AND PURCHASING HOMES
She informed the audience that the Biden-Harris campaign experienced unprecedented turnout from young voters in the 2020 elections, motivating their administration to pursue student loan forgiveness, which recently faced legal challenges.
“We’re not going to stop fighting for that. Because young people expressed that they are not willing to leave the climate crisis to others. Young leaders have discussed with me a term they’ve coined, ‘climate anxiety,’” Harris said, then shifted focus, “Which embodies the fear of the future and the uncertainty regarding whether it is rational to think about having children, or whether it makes sense to aspire to buy a home considering what the climate will be like?”
POLLSTER NOTICES ‘SIGNIFICANT SHIFT’ IN DEMOCRATIC VOTER BASE SINCE HARRIS’ RISE

At that time, critics on social media reacted strongly against Harris’ claim regarding “climate anxiety,” contending that most Americans are more likely to consider the rising costs of living, including energy and housing, when deciding to have children. The Republican-led House Budget Committee has attributed the rapid rise in mortgage rates to the Biden administration’s economic policies, marking the fastest increase since 1981. A Gallup poll conducted in May indicated that only 21% of Americans believe it is a favorable time to buy a home.
Although the original video dates back nearly a year, Trump’s sharing of it has captured some attention, even from X owner Elon Musk.

Nonetheless, one Democrat shared his thoughts in a response, starting his message on X with “LOL.”

“You guys have nothing on her. She’s addressing the anxiety young people have shared with her about their futures, particularly around having children,” the user commented. “Dishonest and insincere. But why would we expect anything less from the Trump campaign? You guys are PANICKING!”
