Governor Ron DeSantis, Republican from Florida, expressed his dissatisfaction with how mainstream media is responding to Vice President Kamala Harris’s position as the likely Democratic Party nominee following President Biden’s suspension of his re-election campaign last week.

“It’s sweltering in July in Florida and it’ll remain the same in August, but expect a storm of misinformation in the coming months,” he stated during an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures.”

“The corporate media will not challenge this narrative; they will attempt to reframe history and portray her [Harris] in a light that she does not deserve,” he added.

Earlier in the discussion, DeSantis connected Harris to the policies of the Biden administration.

“The media was instrumental in pushing Biden out, and all factions of the left, including corporate media, Hollywood, and academia, are working to revive the Democratic Party. They must sanitize Harris’ past to make her more appealing to the electorate, but we know she is extremely superficial and very liberal, with no significant achievements. In fact, she embodies all the policies of the Biden-Harris tenure—she is accountable for the border situation and the inflation crisis,” he remarked.

Since taking Biden’s position as the presumed nominee, Vice President Harris has attracted significant media attention.

Republicans, meanwhile, have raised concerns about her positions on critical issues, such as her previous enthusiasm for banning fracking and her handling of border-related matters. They have also criticized mainstream media for allegedly trying to rebrand her image as she prepares to compete against former President Donald Trump this election cycle.

“With Biden out of the picture, if we had to choose someone, it would likely be Harris, as she is directly associated with all the current policies. She won’t be able to escape them, and many Americans feel this country is off track,” DeSantis stated further.

“Ultimately, I believe truth will win out. However, we must recognize that Biden set a very low standard. He struggled to articulate a coherent sentence. In contrast, Harris, while not blazing trails, seems brilliant compared to Biden, as we have grown accustomed to his ineffectiveness. Being younger, she presents a formidable challenge,” he added.

Recent Fox News polls indicate that Harris and Trump are virtually tied in critical battleground states like Pennsylvania and Michigan, which may be pivotal in determining the winner of the November election.

A separate New York Times/Siena College poll conducted after Biden’s exit from the race suggests that Harris is gaining on Trump, trailing him by just one point—48% to 47%.
