Numerous lawmakers from the U.S. and around the globe are condemning the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics, following performances by drag queens and artists that mocked Leonardo Da Vinci’s painting, the Last Supper, which depicts the final meal of Jesus with his apostles.

“The mockery of the Last Supper during last night’s opening ceremony was shocking and offensive to Christians worldwide,” stated House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., on X. “The assault on our faith and traditional values has reached new heights. However, we are assured that truth and virtue will ultimately triumph.”

He referenced the Bible verse John 1:15: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., also expressed her discontent on social media regarding the opening ceremony and its organizers.

“The French Olympic Committee has been diligently working to remove videos of their satanic, trans, and occult opening ceremonies, citing copyright laws,” she claimed. “It is our First Amendment right to share these videos and express our condemnation of the anti-Christian elements in the Olympic opening ceremonies.”

Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini shared a juxtaposed image of the drag queens and the Last Supper, criticizing the performance.

“Insulting billions of Christians worldwide at the start of the Olympics was a terribly misguided decision, dear French,” he remarked. “Disgraceful.”

Though not a lawmaker, Fox Nation host Piers Morgan shared an image of drag queens along a table, questioning, “By the way, what the f – – – was all this about?”

“A drag queen parody of the Last Supper at the Olympics? Would they dare to ridicule any other faith in this manner? Shockingly poor judgment,” Morgan stated.

“The outrage is understandable. Imagine if they had mocked Islam in such a way,” he added in a subsequent post.
