A rugby sevens player from Team GB is currently under investigation by the British Olympic Association regarding an alleged racist message shared via WhatsApp.

An image of a message purportedly sent by Amy Wilson-Hardy was shared on Instagram by an individual claiming it demonstrated racist behavior. A spokesperson for the BOA stated: “The British Olympic Association is aware of an image circulated on a social media platform and is looking into the situation.”

Wilson-Hardy, who also competed for Team GB in the 2016 Rio Olympics, was part of the British women’s team that suffered a 17-7 defeat to the US in the quarter-finals on Monday.

She has represented her country in 15-a-side rugby and has played for several women’s rugby Premiership clubs, including Wasps, Bristol Bears, and Ealing Trailfinders.

Great Britain was eliminated from the quarter-finals by the US following a number of handling mistakes, despite taking an early advantage with a try from Ellie Boatman.
