Australian gold medal contender Harry Garside is eliminated from the Olympics after his defeat in the round of 16.

The boxer had high expectations after securing a bronze medal in Tokyo 2021, but unfortunately fell short in Paris, losing 5-0 to Richard Kovacs from Hungary.

Garside, 27, appeared visibly upset following the match, looking emotional as Kovacs celebrated his win.

His bronze medal in Tokyo marked Australia’s first in 33 years, significantly boosting the sport’s popularity across the country.

Australia has a record 12 boxers competing in Paris, all vying to become the nation’s first Olympic champions in boxing.
