Sen. JD Vance responded to Democrats who recently criticized his remark about “childless cat ladies” supposedly governing the country, claiming they have misrepresented his comments.
“When you examine the full context of what I stated, it’s evident that Democrats have manipulated this discussion and exaggerated it, which is their standard practice since they lack an agenda of their own,” he shared with Fox News’ Trey Gowdy on “Sunday Night in America.”
In the previously mentioned 2021 interview, Vance remarked, “In this country, we are largely governed, through the Democrats and our corporate elites, by individuals who are childless cat ladies, dissatisfied with their lives and the decisions they’ve made, seeking to make others equally miserable.”

He also targeted several prominent left-wing politicians, including Vice President Kamala Harris and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., as representatives of that demographic.
After the remark gained traction again, the Ohio senator and Trump running mate faced backlash from figures like former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, actress Jennifer Aniston, and the Harris campaign for allegedly undermining women who are childless or cannot have children.
He sought to clarify his intent on Sunday.

“When you consider what matters most to the American people, it’s not a misquoted comment I made three years ago. It’s the reality that Kamala Harris, the so-called border czar, has opened our southern border. It’s the fact that the Democratic Party has become overtly anti-family in many of their policies,” he said.
“Recently, we heard Kamala Harris in an old clip express that having children is a poor idea due to climate change anxiety, indicating the importance of promoting family values as a nation. Naturally, some individuals will find it challenging to become parents for various reasons. We should empathize with them, but our party should promote pro-family policies,” he elaborated.

Vance expressed his belief that parenthood has a “significant” impact on one’s viewpoint and criticized Democrats once more for purportedly endorsing anti-parent and anti-family rhetoric.
“Many people may not have children for numerous reasons and yet they contribute meaningfully to our society,” he emphasized, concluding with, “This isn’t a criticism of everyone without children. That narrative is perpetuated by the left. It is a critique of the left’s increasingly anti-parents and anti-children stance.”
