One individual has lost their life and at least six more have been injured following gunfire at a large event in Rochester, New York, on Sunday evening.
Captain Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department informed the press that officers were dispatched to Maplewood Park around 6:20 p.m. on Sunday after reports of gunfire during a significant gathering.
Upon arrival, authorities found that several individuals had sustained gunshot wounds.
While the investigation remains ongoing, Bello confirmed that one person was killed, and at least six others were injured due to gunfire.

Bello reported that the six injured individuals were taken to local hospitals, with at least one victim in critical condition.

Regarding the deceased, police have only disclosed that the individual was an adult in their 20s. Further details about the victim will be withheld as authorities make notifications to the next of kin.
According to Rochester First, multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Irondequoit Police, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Rochester Police, and New York State Police, were present at the crime scene.

Authorities are urging anyone with videos or photos of the incident to share them with investigators via the Major Crimes Unit or Crime Stoppers, and not to post them on social media. They also ask anyone with information to call 311 or 911.
