North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has officially stepped out of the race to become Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate for this election season, as reported by The New York Times.
On Monday evening, the Times revealed that Cooper communicated his decision to withdraw to Harris’s team. The reasons behind his withdrawal remain unclear.
Recently, Cooper was viewed as a leading candidate for Harris’s running mate.
Mitch Kokai, a senior political analyst at the John Locke Foundation, told Fox News Digital earlier on Monday that the North Carolina governor was seen as “a good fit” for Harris.

“Democrats are likely to view Roy Cooper as an excellent choice for Kamala Harris for several reasons. Primarily, Cooper helps to make North Carolina’s 16 electoral votes more competitive than other candidates could,” Kokai explained.
