Mail Sport and The National Lottery have collaborated to provide exclusive video content from our most celebrated Olympian, Sir Steve Redgrave, each day during the Olympic Games in Paris.
Sir Steve secured five gold medals throughout his illustrious career, and is widely regarded as our greatest Olympic hero. In the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Team GB only clinched one gold medal – and Steve, alongside Matthew Pinsent, delivered it for the nation.
This occurred before the introduction of National Lottery funding, which has dramatically changed the fortunes of British athletes. Thanks to National Lottery players, Team GB has now become a global powerhouse, achieving 22 golds and 64 medals at the last Olympics in Tokyo.
