According to Motorsport.com, Sergio Perez will continue as Max Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull Racing following the summer break.
The Mexican driver’s future was a topic during a management meeting on Monday that included team principal Christian Horner and advisor Helmut Marko.
Although no official announcement came out of the meeting, it is reported that Horner addressed the team at the Milton Keynes facility, indicating that Perez will be driving when the 2024 season resumes at the Dutch Grand Prix in late August.
While Verstappen has already clinched seven Grand Prix victories this season, Perez has faced challenges in extracting the full potential of the Red Bull RB20.
As Red Bull’s performance advantage narrows, Perez’s ongoing difficulties since May have opened a path for McLaren to challenge for the title, with the Woking-based team now just 42 points behind in the standings.
After a tough race in Belgium, where he fell from second on the grid to eighth but eventually moved up to seventh due to George Russell’s disqualification, concerns about Perez’s future grew. However, it seems the 34-year-old has been given another chance to regain his form.

In a statement on Sunday evening, Horner expressed, “It’s frustrating because nobody wants to see Checo face difficulties. Everyone desires to see him thrive, and it’s painful to witness his current struggles.”
“No one wants to make a definitive decision, but internally, we aim to support him in regaining his pace.”
Following another challenging race, Perez indicated his intention to stop responding to ongoing rumors regarding his future.
“There are too many important matters to focus on within the team, and we can’t waste energy on speculation,” he remarked.
“This will be the last time I discuss my future; I won’t be addressing it further.”
