A shooting incident occurred near a migrant shelter on Randall’s Island early Monday morning, resulting in one fatality and two injuries, according to officials.
Authorities responded to a call around 3:30 a.m. at Wards Meadow Loop Field 71 and discovered three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds, reported the New York Police Department.
A 44-year-old woman sustained gunshot wounds to her face and back; a 32-year-old man was shot in the throat, and a 31-year-old woman was struck in the back, according to police reports.
All three were immediately transported to Harlem Hospital, where the 44-year-old was pronounced dead. The other two victims were reported to be in stable condition as of Monday morning.

Authorities did not provide any details about suspects upon inquiry from Fox News Digital. WABC-TV reports that police are searching for at least two men. One suspect allegedly escaped on a moped, while the other fled in a vehicle with New Mexico license plates.

Last month, a 25-year-old man was stabbed in the shoulder at the Randall’s Island migrant shelter. Police arrested two suspects, identified as brothers Josue Deleon, 19, and Moises Deleon, 27, who were both charged with assault.
Recent outbreaks of violence near other city-operated migrant shelters have upset some local residents.
In Brooklyn, residents banded together on Sunday to protest the surge in violence, increasing litter, and ongoing fights associated with a large complex housing around 4,000 migrants.
