Christina Applegate is opening up about her experiences with cosmetic surgery.
In the latest episode of her podcast, the “Dead to Me” actress discussed undergoing plastic surgery after receiving a comment from a “famous” producer regarding her looks.
“I was working on a show and one of the producers… [a] very famous [individual] involved in a legendary show… remarked, ‘We’re struggling to light under your eyes. The bags under your eyes are quite noticeable,'” Applegate, 52, shared on her “MeSsy” podcast with “The Sopranos” actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler.

“He suggested, ‘I recommend you have them removed,’” she recounted.
The actress noted that while the bags under her eyes were “hereditary,” she felt compelled to take action.
Applegate humorously mentioned that her father “has got Louis Vuitton luggage under his eyes.”
“At 27 years old, I underwent my only plastic surgery to remove the bags under my eyes. … I went under the knife,” she explained.
She further criticized the producer for instilling “shame” in her by “planting seeds into [her] mind.”

The “Married… with Children” star has been candid about her health struggles since disclosing her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis in 2021.
During the discussion, Applegate and Sigler — who also faces MS — expressed feelings of “shame” and “self-consciousness” when using a cane.

“I feel embarrassed to use a cane. I wish I could overcome that feeling, but it’s something I struggle with significantly,” Sigler stated.
Applegate acknowledged, “I feel self-conscious with my cane. I’m aware of the fact that I’m like this… but I question what could be worse than falling.”

In addition, last month, Applegate disclosed her challenges with mental health while facing her chronic condition.
She mentioned experiencing “a genuine depression.”
“It’s a real, f— it all depression that frightens me slightly because it feels very fatalistic. I’m currently trapped in this darkness that I haven’t experienced in… I don’t even recall how long, probably over 20 years,” Applegate said during a previous podcast episode.

“To be really honest… I don’t enjoy living. I find little pleasure in it. I don’t enjoy things anymore,” she expressed.
After her statements, the Emmy Award winner reassured her fans concerned for her well-being and mentioned she was “very disturbed” by the sensationalized media coverage of her words.

“I challenge anyone to be diagnosed with MS or any other chronic illness that alters who you were before that moment and to say, ‘This is fantastic,’” she remarked. “There are certainly moments when you’re exhausted and feel like, ‘I don’t wish to do this anymore.’ But you carry on…”

“Dear friends. A few months back, I received an MS diagnosis,” she wrote.
“It has been a peculiar journey. However, I have received immense support from others with this condition,” Applegate added. “It has been a challenging path. Yet, as we all acknowledge, the journey continues, unless someone obstructs it.”
In another post, she noted, “As one of my friends with MS stated, ‘We wake up and take the necessary steps.’ And that’s precisely what I do.”
