The major transfer of the summer across the globe sees Kylian Mbappe, Paris St-Germain’s all-time leading goalscorer, join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

At just 25, he has netted 256 goals during his seven-year stint at PSG, in addition to 27 goals scored for his first senior club, Monaco. On the international stage, he has scored 48 goals, featuring in the victorious 2018 World Cup squad and scoring a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final.

Mbappe has claimed six consecutive Ligue 1 Golden Boots and was the fourth-highest scorer in Europe’s top leagues last season.

Transitioning from Ligue 1 to La Liga is undoubtedly a significant upgrade; however, with 48 Champions League goals under his belt, Mbappe has proven he can score against top-tier competition.

BBC Sport reports that he will receive £12.8m (15m euros) per season, alongside a £128m (150m euros) signing bonus spread over five years, while retaining a portion of his image rights.

He will be joiningBrazilian striker Endrick, who has recently turned 18, although that transfer was formalized in December 2022.
