Readers will discover, he noted, “the challenging lessons I learned as a Green Beret battling the Taliban in Afghanistan, completing special forces training, ascending to Congress, and ultimately tackling the pressing issues America faces today.”

Former President Donald Trump remarked about Waltz, “When I want to know about the military, I reach out to him.”

As the 2024 national election approaches, Waltz continues to serve as a significant Republican figure on defense and foreign policy issues.

While on active duty, Waltz completed multiple tours in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Africa.

In Afghanistan, he led operations searching for deserter Pvt. Bowe Bergdahl.

In his forthcoming book, Waltz recounts one of the many intense moments during his military career. In the mountains of Afghanistan, one of his snipers observed through his scope as a young boy acted as a spotter for Taliban mortars targeting a Green Beret position.

The sniper sought permission to fire—but Waltz declined, emphasizing restraint instead.

The child was spared, and the position was successfully defended, Waltz notes in his book.

Later that day, Waltz found a nearby Afghan village where the Taliban had hanged a boy in front of his family because he refused to fight for them.

Waltz indicated that the harrowing experiences he encountered in war, along with the tough choices he confronted regarding life and death on the battlefield, inspired the themes of his book.

The book will illustrate how “the mindset developed in military service can assist anyone—in politics, business, or daily life—in overcoming everyday obstacles,” as stated in promotional materials provided to Fox News Digital.

Jack Carr, a former Navy SEAL sniper and bestselling author of the “Terminal List” series, commented on the book, stating, “Veterans like Congressman Waltz, who have made sacrifices and invested in America, provide hope for a better tomorrow.”

“Veterans like Congressman Waltz who have sacrificed and invested in America offer hope for the future.”

Carr also noted, “Waltz comprehends the significance of retaining the moral high ground both in warfare and in Congress, and of leveraging past lessons to forge a brighter future for us all.”
