Cardiff City have announced the signing of Ivory Coast forward Wilfried Kanga on a loan deal for the season.

The 27-year-old, born in France, makes the move to the Championship team from the German Bundesliga 2 side, Hertha Berlin.

Kanga spent the previous season on loan with Standard Liege in Belgium’s Pro League, netting 12 goals across 32 matches.

“I am extremely pleased to be here. I have a good understanding of Cardiff City already. Our goal is to elevate this club in the league,” Kanga remarked.

“I’ve enjoyed my time at the stadium so far. There’s a unique atmosphere that I can feel. I am eagerly anticipating playing in front of our supporters.”

Cardiff manager Erol Bulut commented: “He possesses a well-rounded skill set as a forward. He puts in a lot of effort and has a keen finishing ability. He brings significant quality to our squad.”

“We recognized a need for more depth in that position this season. We were impressed by his performance last year in Belgium, and we believe we can help him improve even further as coaches.”

“He understands what is required of him as a member of our team. We are hopeful he can contribute with goals and assists.”

Kanga becomes Cardiff’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of former Queens Park Rangers winger Chris Willock and ex-Arsenal and Aston Villa defender Calum Chambers.

Cardiff is optimistic about bringing in additional players to strengthen their squad in the coming days.
