• Athlete reportedly limited to two lamb chops in the Olympic village
  • Michael Clarke revealed this shocking story on 2KY’s Big Sports Breakfast
  • Numerous athletes have criticized the food quality at the Paris Games

Australian cricket legend Michael Clarke has made a startling assertion that an Olympic weightlifter was restricted to ‘only two lamb chops’ from the athletes’ buffet at the Paris Games.

In a discussion on 2KY’s The Big Sports Breakfast, the former Test captain expressed that athletes across various sports are reportedly dissatisfied with the available food, which consists of plant-based meals and non-dairy options.

‘Teams are departing the Olympic village [due to the living conditions],’ Clarke stated.

‘What I’ve heard is that it’s completely unacceptable.

‘After dedicating three to four years for this one opportunity… athletes are struggling to sleep [due to inadequate bedding].

‘Others are struggling to find food… one weightlifter was informed he couldn’t have more than two lamb chops… the guy weighs 120kg, if he wants 15 lamb chops, let him have them.’

Clarke also praised teams and athletes who have opted for alternative accommodations, even if it means bearing the costs personally.

Meanwhile, the organizers of the Games have succumbed to athletes’ complaints and ordered over 700kg of eggs and an additional ton of meat to replace the vegetarian cuisine prevalent in the Olympic village.

Athletes and teams have also faced issues such as inadequate air conditioning, long distances to the cafeteria, and crowded buses that often run late.

The organizers of the Paris Games aimed to make this Olympics the most environmentally friendly ever, emphasizing a green initiative in nearly every aspect.

However, this strong emphasis on sustainability has led to subpar conditions for competitors aspiring to excel in the French capital, resulting in a lack of world records.

Others have described the Games as ‘woke’.

Australian swimming star Ariarne Titmus shared that the conditions are ‘outrageous’ and contributed to her inability to achieve a world record in the 400m freestyle final.

‘It probably wasn’t the performance I believed I could achieve, but living in the Olympic village makes it challenging to perform,’ she revealed in a recent interview.

‘It’s certainly not tailored for high performance, so it becomes a challenge of mental resilience.’
