Mollie O’Callaghan was unable to finish in the top ranks of the women’s 100m freestyle final in Paris.
Following her victory over teammate Ariarne Titmus in the women’s 200m freestyle final, the 20-year-old O’Callaghan faced a disappointing result, finishing fourth on Wednesday evening.
Sweden’s Sarah Sjöström dominated the event, clocking in at 52.16 seconds. American swimmer Torrie Huske secured silver with 52.29 seconds, while Siobhan Bernadette Haughey from Hong Kong earned the bronze.
O’Callaghan, aiming to achieve a historic 100-200m freestyle golden double at the same Olympics, finished close behind at 52.34 seconds.
Jack finished in fifth place with a time of 52.72 seconds, as the Australian duo struggled to gain ground during the final lap.
