Andretti Global has announced that Jamie Chadwick will be testing with their IndyCar team after the Indy NXT season wraps up.
The talented 26-year-old British driver will test at Barber Motorsports Park on 30 September, marking the first time in over ten years (since Pippa Mann in 2011) that a woman has had an IndyCar Series test.
“I’m really thrilled to have this opportunity to test in IndyCar for the first time with Andretti Global at Barber Motorsports Park later this year,” Chadwick stated. She is not only the youngest driver but also the first female to win both a British GT championship and a British Formula 3 race.
“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the team for this opportunity. It’s certainly one I will cherish. Competing in the NTT IndyCar Series is my ultimate goal, and I’m eager to soak up as much knowledge as I can on that day at one of the most challenging tracks on the calendar.”
Chadwick, a three-time W Series champion, made the leap to American open-wheel racing in 2023, joining Andretti’s Indy NXT program and becoming the first female driver to compete full-time in IndyCar’s developmental category in 13 years. She has achieved five top 10 finishes over the course of 14 races during her rookie season.
This season marked a significant advancement for Chadwick, including a podium finish at the Indianapolis road course in May, showcasing the best series result for a woman since 2010 (Mann at Kentucky Speedway).
She followed this up with a commanding victory from pole position at Road America the next month, becoming the first female to secure a win in Indy NXT on a road or street circuit, and just the third woman to ever win in the series.

As the season progresses, Chadwick currently occupies fifth place in the championship standings, recording one win, two podiums, six top 10 finishes, and one pole position.
“It’s been a joy to witness Jamie’s development as a driver within our Indy NXT program,” remarked Michael Andretti, CEO and chairman of Andretti Global.
“The dedication she demonstrated during the winter following her rookie season is evident, and we are truly impressed with the strides she’s made.
“The Indy NXT field is extremely competitive this year, and Jamie’s achievements reflect her significant skill and promise. We believe in acknowledging hard work and results, and we are excited to provide her with this opportunity.
“We eagerly await to see what she will accomplish in September.”
