According to the Democratic National Committee, Vice President Kamala Harris is currently the sole presidential candidate eligible to run for the Democratic nomination, as announced on Tuesday.
No other prominent Democrat has expressed any intentions to pursue the party’s nomination, and the DNC’s declaration paves the way for the vice president to run without opposition for the nomination, as reported by The Associated Press.
This announcement follows President Biden’s decision to suspend his re-election campaign.

The delegates at the party’s national convention will cast votes to officially confirm the nominee through a new online voting method adopted by the party last week. Voting is set to commence on Thursday and conclude on Monday, with any votes cast for candidates other than Harris being tallied as “present.”
