Interviewed attendees of Vice President Kamala Harris’ remarks at the American Federation of Teachers’ Convention last week found it challenging to identify specific policy achievements by the presidential candidate.

“I’m not really aware of much she has done,” Bernard, an independent voter from New York, shared with Fox News Digital on Thursday during the annual event in Houston, Texas.

I can’t say I know enough about her successes to respond to that inquiry,” expressed Eric, a Harris advocate from Massachusetts.

During her speech to AFT members, Harris emphasized key campaign issues, including expanding mail-in voting, prohibiting assault rifles, safeguarding LGBTQ+ rights, and reinstating national access to abortion.

Two attendees told Fox News Digital that the Biden-Harris administration has “made significant strides for working individuals” and described the vice president as “a staunch advocate for working families, particularly children.”

Rich from New Jersey noted that Harris has been “at the forefront of human rights, civil liberties, and LGBTQ rights since her time as a prosecutor in California.”

April from Illinois mentioned that Harris is “inspirational to many” for becoming vice president as a woman, stating, “It’s incredible and amazing to have a female VP in the White House.”

Amy from New York expressed her appreciation for the vice president’s efforts in “leading the country and empowering women,” advocating for “women’s rights” and the need to “ban assault weapons.”

Supporters also praised Harris’ commitment to labor unions.

“Kamala Harris embraces our union principles. She champions our right to collective bargaining, and supports the union’s power in enhancing wages for families nationwide,” said Ron from Kansas.

The topic of loan forgiveness was also raised, highlighting the administration’s student debt relief provisions.

Cassandra from Michigan characterized loan forgiveness as “transformative” under the Biden administration, while another devoted Harris admirer remarked on her ongoing defense of the Affordable Care Act.

“She advocates for education,” Michelle from Texas added.

Attendees acknowledged her various roles as California attorney general, senator, and vice president, but provided little insight into her accomplishments within those positions.

A New York attendee commented, “She has certainly made her mark in history as the first African American female vice president, and soon to be the first female president of color.”

Fox News’ Sarah Rumpf-Whitten contributed to this report.
