Moment triathlete VOMITS live on BBC1 at the end of a gruelling race at the Paris Olympics – as 30-degree heat takes its toll on competitors after event was rescheduled due to poor water quality

A triathlete was seen vomiting at the conclusion of a challenging men’s race at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday.

Tyler Mislawchuk of Canada, 29, was visibly sick on live television after finishing ninth in a demanding contest.

The race took place under sweltering conditions, with temperatures reaching approximately 30 degrees Celsius in the French capital.

Britain’s Alex Yee triumphed in the event, delivering an impressive comeback to overtake New Zealand’s Hayden Wilde and secure the gold medal.

The event had been postponed from Tuesday morning due to subpar water quality in the Seine River, which was deemed unsuitable for competition.

Confirmation that the races would take place on Wednesday came only in the early hours, resulting in the men’s race starting after the women’s event.

Consequently, the men’s race concluded during a period of rising temperatures, adding to the challenges faced by the athletes.

Organizers reported that water samples showed ‘much lower’ bacteria levels than the acceptable threshold, ensuring the future events in the river, including the mixed relay triathlon and marathon swimming, would proceed smoothly.

The combination of the 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride, and 10km run was overwhelming for some participants, including Mislawchuk.

Other competitors were observed lying on the mat at the finish line, utterly exhausted after completing the grueling course.
