Country artist Megan Moroney shared insights about her past relationship with Morgan Wallen.

In a recent episode of the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Moroney confirmed that she and Wallen had a romantic connection.

“It was never a full-blown relationship,” the “Am I Okay?” singer stated. “Here’s something I haven’t shared before. [He] and I met in 2020, thanks to [fellow country artist] Jon Langston. I was in my senior year of college – the pandemic hadn’t hit yet, and his ‘Dangerous’ album hadn’t been released. So we were friends for quite a while.”

“We were friends for quite some time. We were not just friends. And now we are friends,” she elaborated.

Moroney confessed to having “avoided” discussions regarding their past relationship in previous interviews, but she remarked, “But now we’re here, time has passed, and everything is fine.”

Fans began speculating about their romantic link when Moroney debuted her hit single, “Tennessee Orange,” which mentions the University of Tennessee football team, an organization Wallen passionately supports.

Following the song’s release, Wallen and Moroney began interacting on each other’s Instagram posts. Wallen fueled the rumors further with his song “Tennessee Fan,” which narrates the story of a girl who becomes a Tennessee Vols supporter after meeting a guy.

“[He] and I met in 2020. [Fellow country artist] Jon Langston actually introduced us. I was a senior in college – COVID hadn’t happened yet, his ‘Dangerous’ album wasn’t even out yet. So, we were friends for a long time.”

“I feel that he’s quite a private person,” she said. “We never dated exclusively, and I think our schedules had a big part in that… whenever we attempted to meet up, it seemed like, ‘Alright, we have one day in a whole month where we could be in the same place,’ but it never worked out.”

On the subject of their discreet relationship, Moroney shared that “since he values his privacy, discussing it feels somewhat uncomfortable.”

When host Alex Cooper queried if “Tennessee Orange” was about Wallen, she replied, “I will never disclose who my songs are about.”

In a recent Fox News Digital interview, Moroney discussed her flourishing music venture, noting that she lacks “time for a relationship” as all her focus and energy goes into her music career.

“I think since I’m not emotionally available right now, I am not looking for someone to marry because finding love is not anywhere near my top priorities,” she shared. “So, it’s best not to waste anyone’s time. Let’s just hold off on dating for now.”

Her dedication is clear as she currently promotes her second studio album, “Am I Okay?” which was launched this month, just a year after her first album, “Lucky,” debuted in May 2023.

“The album feels like a natural progression from ‘Lucky’ since they were released only a year apart,” she remarked. “But it greatly portrays my real-life experiences. On this album, there’s a heightened intensity – the upbeat tracks feel even more uplifting, while the sad songs are more poignant. I’ve included a song dedicated to my friends, which is something I’ve never done, and a track addressing grief, which I have also never explored before. I believe there’s something for everyone, and it provides an opportunity for my fans to get to know me better.”
