Fulham has submitted another offer for Scott McTominay, proposing £23 million for the Manchester United midfielder.

Once again, McTominay’s position at Old Trafford is uncertain after United turned down a £30 million bid from West Ham last summer.

A year later, it’s reported that United is willing to entertain offers between £25-30 million for the Scotland international, who has 11 months remaining on his contract, although the club holds an option to extend it for an additional year.

Fulham has presented at least one other bid for McTominay, who is also drawing interest from Turkish clubs Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. The 27-year-old played in United’s 3-2 victory against Real Betis in San Diego early Thursday morning.

United aims to offload either McTominay or Casemiro this summer to bring in a new defensive midfielder, with the club showing interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.

Mount Looks to Rejuvenate His Career

Mason Mount is excited about a ‘fresh start’ at Manchester United following a challenging first season at Old Trafford after his £60 million transfer from Chelsea.

Mount had limited involvement, making only 20 appearances and starting eight games, primarily due to a calf injury he sustained in November. Now at 25 years old, he’s eager to make up for the lost time.

‘I genuinely feel this is a new beginning,’ he expressed at United’s training camp in Los Angeles. ‘I’m currently in a great place mentally and physically and I can’t wait to get back on the pitch and perform at my best. I’m really looking forward to it. I feel strong and fit, and I’m ready to keep pushing and working hard.’

When asked about his goals for this season, Mount said: ‘Both as a team and as individuals, we have a lot to achieve. We know our capabilities, and we showcased that towards the end of last season.

‘We certainly possess a squad that can claim titles, and that’s our main aim. We will continue to strive for that and keep our focus on that objective since this is Manchester United, where we must aim for the highest standards possible.

‘We are aware of the high expectations and now it’s time for us to deliver, and we are prepared for it. We aim to secure as many trophies as we can and win as many games as possible. That’s the collective focus of the entire team. We are definitely united on this front.’

United’s Management is Energized

Manchester United’s new executive group and coaching staff visited the training facilities of the LA Chargers NFL team located in El Segundo, Los Angeles.

The delegation was led by new CEO Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, club director Sir Dave Brailsford, and technical director Jason Wilcox, along with United’s chief operating officer Collette Roche.

United manager Erik ten Hag also received a tour of the advanced facility, accompanied by his new assistant coaches Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake, along with goalkeeper coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar. They were joined by first-team coach Andreas Georgson on his inaugural day on tour after transitioning from his previous role at Lillestrom in Norway to United’s staff.

The Chargers staff, including head coach Jim Harbaugh and kicker Cameron Dicker, shared insights about the facility known as The Bolt, which spans 150,000 square feet. United aims to gather knowledge as they embark on a £50 million upgrade of their Carrington training ground.

Padres Affect Snapdragon Attendance

Andy Cole participated in a promotional event alongside the San Diego Padres ahead of United’s match against Real Betis at Snapdragon Stadium on Wednesday, but insiders suggest that the baseball team hesitated to promote ticket sales for the game.

With the Padres playing against the LA Dodgers at the 47,559-capacity Petco Park just a few miles away on the same night, they likely didn’t want to jeopardize their own attendance figures.

As a result, the attendance for United’s second match on tour was 26,248, lower than the stadium’s capacity of 35,000, and even less than last year’s crowd when a United academy side faced Wrexham.

Nevertheless, it’s believed that United’s new shirt sponsors, Snapdragon, who have entered into an initial three-year deal worth £175 million, were satisfied with the audience being only two-thirds full, especially considering that just two weeks prior, the All Blacks defeated Fiji 47-5 in front of a crowd of 33,000.

Rising Costs at Old Trafford

The proposal to reconstruct Old Trafford is projected to exceed £2 billion, indicating that Manchester United would be spending significantly more than Tottenham did on their new stadium – even before accounting for inflation in construction expenses.

A recent survey suggests that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium cost approximately £1 billion upon its completion in 2019, while both West Ham’s London Stadium, built for the 2012 Olympics, and Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium, which opened in 2006, came in under £500 million.

With aspirations to construct a new Old Trafford by 2030 if the project is financially feasible, rising costs of materials and construction could see the ultimate price rise to around £2.5 billion. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have encountered budget overruns during renovations of the Bernabeu and Nou Camp, respectively.
