Super Formula and SUPER GT will broaden their horizons beyond Japan in 2025, each adding one international race to their schedules.

The fourth round of Super Formula is set to take place at an undisclosed location in South Korea from June 6-8, with the Inje Speedium, near Seoul, being a likely candidate for this significant race, marking its first outside of Japan in over 20 years.

Japan’s top single-seater championship had previously established a three-year agreement with the Inje circuit beginning in 2013, but the inaugural race was cancelled just a month ahead of its planned start.

The only prior instance of Super Formula (and its predecessor, Formula Nippon) hosting a successful race internationally was at the Sepang International Circuit in 2004.

The South Korea event will be a key highlight in the eight-round Super Formula schedule for 2025, which will kick off and conclude at the Suzuka Circuit.

Although officials at Suzuka are enthusiastic about featuring a round during the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix support, both of Super Formula’s races at the Mie venue will be standalone events.

The season will begin on March 7-9, followed by races at Motegi and Autopolis in April and May, respectively.

After the June event in Korea, Super Formula will make two returns to Fuji Speedway in July and October, interspersed with a race at Sugo from August 8-10.

The season will conclude with a final round at Suzuka from November 21-23, marking a relatively late season finish.

On another note, SUPER GT has secured an agreement to hold a race in Malaysia in 2025 as part of its eight-round calendar.

The Sepang circuit will host the third round of the 2025 SUPER GT season on June 27-28, following previous attempts to return to Malaysia being thwarted by the pandemic.

The circuit, located just outside of Kuala Lumpur airport, was regularly featured on the calendar from 2002 to 2013. It was reinstated in 2020 as a night race, but travel restrictions led promoter GTA to revise the schedule.

2019 was the last time SUPER GT conducted an international event during its annual trip to Thailand.

The Buriram circuit was also impacted by the pandemic, resulting in its complete removal from the SUPER GT schedule after initially being included in the 2021 lineup.
