When asked how many clubs he has played for, Jefferson Louis takes a moment before responding: “I lost track of it long ago.”
Looking over his extensive list of former teams, it’s easy to see why he struggles to keep count.
With stints at Thame United (on three separate occasions), Lewes, Weymouth (twice), Gainsborough Trinity, Darlington, Brackley Town (twice), Whitehawk, Lowestoft Town, Staines, Oxford United, Oxford City, St Albans City…the list is endless.
Louis epitomizes the footballing journeyman, having switched clubs an astounding 51 times since his debut with Buckinghamshire’s Risborough Rangers 28 years ago.
Now at 45, the forward shows no signs of easing up.
This Saturday, Louis will kick off his 29th season as a player when he participates in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup with his current club, Thame United, where he serves as player-coach.
“I’ve played at the international level, faced my boyhood team Arsenal, and I’m still active at 45,” he shares.
