U.S. Olympians are facing difficulties with housing and food costs due to rising inflation during this Olympic cycle. Fortunately, a rapper has come forward to offer assistance.

On Thursday, U.S. discus thrower Veronica Fraley shared on X that she is unable to pay her rent just before her Olympic debut on Friday.

“I am competing in the Olympic Games TOMORROW and can’t even afford my rent,” she tweeted. “My school only covered around 75% of my rent while they pay football players (who haven’t accomplished anything) enough to purchase new cars and homes.”

Fraley also provided a link to a GoFundMe page she created, which has currently raised $14,646 towards her $20,000 goal.

Support came from hip-hop artist William Jonathan Drayton Jr., known as Flavor Flav, who responded to Fraley’s post, offering to cover her rent.

“I gotchu, DM me and I’ll send payment TODAY so you don’t have to worry about it TOMORROW, and I’ll be cheering for you tomorrow LET’S GO!” Drayton replied.

Drayton kickstarted support for Fraley, with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian also contributing. Ohanian, who is married to tennis star Serena Williams, shared on X a receipt confirming a $7,760 transaction he sent to Fraley.

Later that Thursday, Drayton tweeted that Fraley’s rent is now fully covered for the remainder of the year.

“That tweet has been seen by 10 MILLION people, her rent is paid off for the year, and people are supporting her!” Drayton posted.

Fraley represents just one of many Olympic athletes grappling with basic living expenses this year.

Fox News Digital previously reported that several U.S. Olympians, including Fraley’s track and field teammates Fred Kerley, Tara Davis-Woodhall, and Kenny Bednarek, have all voiced concerns about how inflation has affected their focus on their sport.

“It’s f—ed! It’s as simple as that, it’s f—ed,” said silver medalist sprinter Fred Kerley, 29, to reporters at the USATF Grand Prix on June 8. “I feel like if I were from another country, I’d be living like a king. But in America, you know how it is, many of us are struggling daily.”

Fraley isn’t the first U.S. athlete that Drayton has supported; he has also declared himself a committed sponsor of the women’s water polo team, providing them with contributions that included a Virgin Voyage cruise and a $1,000 bonus during an interview on “CBS Mornings” in early July.
