Hunter Biden, the eldest son of President Biden, is scheduled for sentencing on November 13, following his conviction on charges related to his 2018 handgun purchase.
Judge Maryellen Noreika has officially set the sentencing for Wednesday, November 13, at 10:00 a.m. at the J. Caleb Boggs Federal Building in Wilmington, Delaware. Biden will find out his sentence just eight days after the 2020 presidential election.
In June, Hunter Biden was found guilty of making a false statement when purchasing a firearm, providing false information required by a federally licensed gun dealer, and unlawfully possessing a firearm while being a user of or addicted to controlled substances.
He could face a maximum of 25 years in prison for the trio of charges. Each charge also comes with a potential fine of $250,000 and three years of supervised release. However, as a first-time offender, it is unlikely he will receive the maximum sentences.

Following the verdict, Hunter Biden stated, “I am more grateful for the love and support I received from Melissa, my family, friends, and community this past week than I am disappointed by the outcome. Recovery is achievable by the grace of God, and I am fortunate to experience that gift one day at a time.”
His trial ran for about six and a half days and featured emotional testimonies from family members, including his daughter Naomi Biden, ex-wife Kathleen Buhle, and his sister-in-law-turned-girlfriend Hallie Biden.

Prosecutors aimed to establish that Hunter Biden provided false information on a federal firearm form, known as ATF Form 4473, in October 2018, when he answered “No” to the question about being an unlawful user of a firearm or addicted to controlled substances. The firearm was purchased from StarQuest Shooters & Survival Supply in Wilmington.
U.S. Attorney David Weiss of Delaware, whose team prosecuted the case, spoke to the media after the verdict, emphasizing that the trial focused on Hunter Biden’s “illegal decisions,” rather than solely on his battle with addiction.

Weiss stated, “This case was not solely about addiction, a disease that deeply affects families in our country, including Hunter Biden’s. It hinged on the unlawful choices the defendant made amid his addiction, specifically his decision to lie on a government form when purchasing a weapon and subsequently possessing that firearm. It was this combination of firearms and drugs that rendered his actions particularly dangerous.”

Weiss added, “No one in this country is above the law,” a remark his team reiterated throughout the trial proceedings. “Everyone must take responsibility for their actions, even this defendant. However, Hunter Biden shouldn’t face greater accountability than any other citizen in a similar situation. The prosecution is committed to this principle and to the fundamentals of federal prosecution as it fulfills its duties.”
