The mother of the late Las Vegas student Jonathan Lewis feels that the individuals responsible for her son’s death may evade justice.
Four adolescents charged in connection with Jonathan Lewis’s death late last year have accepted a plea agreement that has shifted their case to juvenile court.

The teens—Damien Hernandez, 17, Dontral Beaver, 16, Gianni Robinson, 17, and Treavion Randolph, 16—pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter, reducing their original murder charges.
Melissa Ready, mother of the deceased Jonathan Lewis, 17, expressed to FOX 5 Las Vegas that she feels shocked by the plea deal made by her son’s assailants.

“I had no idea there would be a court hearing today. I also didn’t know they had worked out a plea deal… Just a week ago, the district attorney informed me they would plead guilty to murder and face no less than two years in the adult system,” said Ready.

Ready asserted, “I’m not pleased with the prospect of two years in the adult system, but at least it would be on their records… There remains no justice for my son’s murder thus far.”

The attorney for Gianni Robinson, Robert Draskovich, informed FOX 5 Las Vegas that the plea deal would transition their case to juvenile court, where the criminal records of the four teens would be sealed.
Draskovich also shared with FOX 5 Las Vegas that a formal plea has yet to be entered in juvenile court for the four teens, with sentencing scheduled for a later date.

Jonathan Lewis was discovered in an alley on November 1, 2023, after enduring a severe beating near Rancho High School in North Las Vegas. He succumbed to his injuries days later at a local hospital.
