A deputy from the sheriff’s office lost his life and two others were injured in a shooting incident in Florida on Friday, as reported by officials.
Lake County Sheriff Peyton C. Grinnell stated during a news conference early Saturday that deputies were dispatched to a residence on Brookside Drive in Eustis, Florida, around 8 p.m. in response to a disturbance, according to Fox 35.
“They were ambushed,” Grinnell noted. “We lost one tonight.”

Upon their arrival, deputies could hear a disturbance coming from within the house and proceeded to enter.
The first deputy to step inside was shot and became trapped. The sheriff reported that he later succumbed to his injuries.
One other deputy was shot in the armpit and stomach, leaving him in critical condition, while a third deputy suffered a shoulder injury and is currently stable. Both injured deputies sustained their wounds while trying to assist the first deputy.

Authorities discovered two individuals deceased within the home, yet it remains undetermined whether they were killed by deputies or if it was a murder-suicide situation, according to Grinnell. Another individual was taken to the hospital, as reported by the sheriff.
The sheriff’s office has not yet made any arrests regarding the suspects.
An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
