Clement believed that the Ukrainian league took steps to ensure Dynamo would be “fresh” for their match against Rangers.
“It’s clear that the league is actively working to enhance the performance of their teams in Europe, as it benefits the country,” the Belgian stated. “This is something other nations might consider.”
After describing his side’s start at Tynecastle as “not up to standard,” Clement emphasized the necessity of utilizing his entire squad to manage the demands of both domestic and European matches.
“We have numerous fixtures ahead – I’m aiming for nine in the next four weeks,” he remarked. “Therefore, rotation is essential. We can’t rely on the same starting XI.”
Recent signing Robin Propper didn’t participate in Edinburgh, having just joined from Twente on Friday, while Vaclav Cerny, the loaned Wolfsburg winger, was restricted to a half-hour appearance as a substitute.
“Observing Cerny’s initial minutes today, he contributes stability with the ball and helps us retain possession,” Clement noted.
“However, it’s just his first minutes with the team. He has only trained three times, so we shouldn’t anticipate miracles.”
Meanwhile, Clement expressed optimism that Oscar Cortes’ injury “is not too severe” after the loaned Lens winger had to leave the field four minutes into the second half.
“He took a nasty fall with his knee, but mentioned at halftime that he felt fine,” the manager explained. “Yet during his first sprint, he felt discomfort, forcing us to make a substitution.”
