Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi is refuting allegations that she made calls to orchestrate a coup within the Democratic Party that ultimately pushed President Biden out of the 2024 presidential race.
Pelosi faced questions regarding her involvement in the alleged pressure campaign during a CBS interview on Saturday.
“No, I wasn’t leading any pressure [campaign],” Pelosi stated in her CBS interview. “Let me clarify things that I did not do: I didn’t call a single person. I can always say to him, ‘I never called anyone.’
“He knows how much I care for him,” she added, stopping short of further discussion on the matter.

“It’s the president’s decision whether he will run,” Pelosi told MSNBC at that time. “We’re all encouraging him to make that decision as time is running out. I think the overwhelming support of the caucus speaks for itself; it’s not my place to say. I’m not the head of the caucus anymore, but he is admired, he is respected, and the party wants him to decide. Not me.”

Pelosi also had direct communication with Biden at that time, straightforwardly telling him that polls indicated he was losing to Trump and could result in significant consequences for Democrats in the House.
Biden allegedly pushed back, asserting that he had seen polls suggesting he could win, according to one source who spoke with CNN.
