Paul Revington’s squad initially started strong, leaning towards a semi-final spot when India was reduced to 10 players in the second quarter following Amit Rohidas’ dismissal for hitting Will Calnan in the face with his hockey stick.
India took the lead shortly thereafter with a goal from captain Harmanpreet Singh, but Lee Morton quickly equalized.
Despite pressing for a winner over the next two quarters, Team GB could not break through as India managed to hold their ground, leading to a shootout.
Both teams converted their initial penalties; however, Lee Williamson missed his shot and Phillip Roper’s attempt was thwarted by Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejash.

The men’s team has not secured an Olympic medal since 1988, and the drought will extend for at least another four years as they look towards the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
Meanwhile, the Team GB women’s hockey team is set to compete in their quarter-finals on Monday.
They will take on the defending Olympic champions, the Netherlands, after suffering a defeat to Argentina in their final group match on Saturday.
