Authorities in Washington, D.C., have detained a woman from Texas for reportedly threatening former President Trump and illegally possessing a firearm last Friday.

The individual, identified as Christina Montoya, was apprehended after arriving in the capital. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, her threats were initially reported by the Secret Service.

“Following an investigation by detectives, 41-year-old Christina Montoya from San Antonio, TX, was taken into custody and faces charges for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Threats Against a Former President,” police stated in their announcement.

Officials revealed that Montoya’s threats directed at Trump began on July 20.

Law enforcement located Montoya’s vehicle and found a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield pistol along with a magazine and a gun lock, as detailed in the police report.

This incident follows closely behind an assassination attempt on Trump by Thomas Matthew Crooks during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Trump barely escaped with a bullet wound to his ear.

The assassination attempt is currently under investigation by the FBI, the Secret Service, and Congress. Following a troubling hearing where both parties called for her resignation, former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle stepped down.
