• Atletico Madrid has proposed a loan for Joao Felix as part of the Julian Alvarez transfer
  • The plan also features a cash component along with an option to permanently sign Felix

Atletico Madrid has approached Manchester City with an offer for Joao Felix as a part of the Julian Alvarez transfer.

This proposal consists of sending Felix on loan, with the provision to buy him along with a cash payment.

Manchester City has shown interest in Felix prior to his loan period at Chelsea in 2023.

While City plans to retain Alvarez, the 24-year-old is keen on moving to Atletico.

City values Alvarez at £75 million plus an additional £10 million contingent on his performance.

Felix, who found the net four times in 20 appearances for Chelsea, spent the last season on loan at Barcelona, scoring ten goals in 44 outings.

The Portuguese forward has appeared for Atletico during pre-season, but his future remains ambiguous.

Atletico previously tried to sign Alvarez this summer but failed to finalize a contract, while Paris Saint-Germain is still monitoring his status.

Alvarez had expressed his desire for more prominent participation in ‘key matches’ for City.

He stated: ‘Last season, I was one of the players who got the most minutes at City. But… ultimately, it’s not enjoyable to miss out on key matches; you want to contribute,’ Alvarez remarked.

He added, ‘I’ll take my time to consider what I truly want. We will see after the Games. First, I plan to take a few days off. Then we will decide.’

Guardiola responded directly when asked about Alvarez’s situation.

He remarked: ‘I don’t regard it as replacing someone. I knew he mentioned he would contemplate it.’

‘Once he has concluded his thoughts, his agent will connect with Txiki [Begiristain] and we will observe what unfolds.

‘I recognize he wishes to play in significant moments, yes. ‘However, the others do as well. 18 or 19 players also desire a chance to take part in crucial games.’

He continued: ‘I read he wants to deliberate. Fine, consider it, and afterward, he’ll inform us of his decision.’

After Guardiola’s remarks, Alvarez asserted that he is satisfied at City.

As noted by TyC Sports, he commented: ‘I listened to what Guardiola said. I don’t have a lot to reply.’

‘I have never expressed anything negative.’

‘I just mentioned I would reflect on it like I do each season to analyze what transpired last season, to forecast what the future might hold.’

‘I always state that I am comfortable and content at City, which is an exceptional club. Therefore, I did not say anything negative.’

Alvarez has four years remaining on his current contract with City.
