Harrison Butker is poised to make history as the highest-paid kicker in the NFL, with the Chiefs securing the 29-year-old on a new $25 million contract.
Butker has inked a four-year, $25.6 million deal that guarantees $17.8 million of that amount.
This new contract follows a controversial commencement speech he delivered at Benedictine College in Kansas three months ago.
During his speech, the Chiefs’ long-standing kicker encouraged men to ‘stand against cultural emasculation,’ asserting that women are meant to be ‘homemakers.’
Butker’s address reflected his conservative viewpoints concerning not only gender roles but also abortion and vaccinations.

‘To all the gentlemen present today, part of what ails society is this misconception that men are not essential in homes or communities,’ Butker expressed during his May speech.
‘As men, we set the cultural tone, and when that is missing, disorder and chaos dominate. The absence of men at home contributes significantly to the violence we observe across the nation.’
The three-time Super Bowl champion has recently become more outspoken about his beliefs.
His convictions included wearing a tie emblazoned with a pro-life Latin phrase during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl celebration at the White House last year, contrasting with President Joe Biden’s pro-choice stance.
Butker has been the Chiefs’ starting kicker since 2017, famously kicking the game-winning field goal in last year’s Super Bowl against the Eagles.
Before this, the record for the highest-paid kickers was held by Justin Tucker of Baltimore and Jake Elliott of Philadelphia, both earning $6 million per season.
