As mainstream media collaborates closely with Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign to obscure her far-left history of radical progressive policies, it’s vital to clarify her actual stance on public safety and policing. The Harris campaign’s simplistic, slogan-driven narrative frames the debate as “prosecutor versus felon”—ignoring the reality that many Americans view the prosecutions of former President Donald Trump as politically charged. In tandem with this distortion of reality, we witness a deliberate rebranding of Harris as a “law and order” advocate.
However, a brief examination of her record easily contradicts this narrative transformation. We certainly remember her face-off with former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard during the 2020 Democratic primary, where Gabbard’s thorough dissection of Harris’s past as attorney general effectively ended Harris’s campaign before the Iowa caucuses without a single vote.
Now that President Joe Biden has been forced out of his top position due to infighting within his party, Harris finds herself hailed as the Democratic Party’s next-generation heroine.
BIDEN/HARRIS ADMINISTRATION ‘SUPER-CHARGED’ MIGRATION FROM LATIN AMERICA: REPORT
Yet, we must not overlook her own conflicting statements and actions that seem to contradict her recent rebranding. Vice President Harris has a complex relationship with law enforcement, highlighted by several troubling instances that suggest her connection to the ongoing “war on cops”:

- Harris’s insistence on spreading the unfounded claim (as recently as 2019) that an African-American teenager was killed by a White police officer in Ferguson, Mo., in 2014 is concerning. Her ongoing perpetuation of this divisive narrative came years after the Obama Justice Department, led by then-Attorney General Eric Holder, concluded an investigation and issued an 87-page report determining the shooting was justified. The fact that Harris’s incendiary tweet remains online is disqualifying for her potential leadership.
- While it might be understandable to be misled by the infamous “hate crime hoaxer” Jussie Smollett, Harris compounded her support in 2019 by labeling the farcical claim that White, Trump-supporting MAGA enthusiasts had targeted Smollett as a “modern day lynching.” Prosecutors are supposed to follow evidence diligently, free from bias. How was she ever fit to be California’s top cop?
- As a sitting U.S. senator and presumed Democratic nominee for vice president in 2018, Harris questioned a Trump administration appointee for the head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Ronald Vitiello, about whether he was “aware of the perception” that ICE shares similarities with the KKK, a notorious domestic terror group.

In 2021, as vice president, Harris unjustly criticized Customs and Border Patrol agents on horseback who interacted with Haitian migrants attempting to cross the border illegally, suggesting they were “whipping” the migrants—a baseless and offensive allegation. She further remarked on “The View” about how the scene “evoked” images of slavery.
- As politicians on the left gradually move away from their prior unwavering support for Black Lives Matter and the call to “defund the police,” Harris’s past remarks remain a part of history. During a 2020 radio interview in New York, she accused U.S. cities of “militarizing police” and expressed concern over police funding following George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis that summer. The Biden campaign worked hard to reframe her position, anticipating that the Trump campaign would exploit it. Polls during the height of 2020 protests indicated how out of touch she was with the African-American community, where 81% wanted the same or increased policing in their neighborhoods.
- How can the Harris campaign position her as a law-and-order prosecutor when she promoted a Minnesota bail fund that helped free violent offenders during the 2020 protests and riots? This Harris-supported fund still appears to be accepting donations. Her backing encouraged contributions that led to the release of violent offender Shawn Michael Tillman, who later committed murder. Our prospective president has not distanced herself from this troubling initiative. Protestors were not arrested for peacefully and legally demonstrating; Harris knew that. Her 2020 campaign also aimed to end cash bail and “transform the criminal justice system.”
- Finally, she continues to endorse “sanctuary city” policies, a blatant refusal by municipalities to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. As chaos ensues along the southern border, which both parties will exploit during the campaign, Harris’s ineffective role as “border czar” is highlighted by her suggestion that migrants can cross illegally—assured they have a “friend” in the White House. Recent violent crimes committed by undocumented immigrants have suddenly drawn attention to her support for open borders, which could be seen as an egregious oversight. Yet the temptation to expand her party’s political base seems too appealing to resist, even when it leads to tragic consequences.

In conclusion, Kamala Harris’s pursuit of patronage has exacerbated the current national divide. Despite her seven years as district attorney in San Francisco and six years as California’s attorney general, her past remains indefensible. Her reckless statements contribute to a false narrative suggesting that police forces are infested with “White supremacists” who supposedly hunt and kill young men of color for their own amusement.
To comprehend the motivations behind recent attacks on police officers in cities like New York and Dallas, we must recognize the power of rhetoric. Regardless of any statistical manipulation concerning crime data, our cities have become more perilous. In 2024, a police officer is shot every 22 hours, even as the hostility toward law enforcement and support for failed policies like bail reform, sanctuary cities, and the defunding movement continue to undermine public safety. Can we genuinely trust Kamala Harris to protect us?
