Manchester is on the verge of finalizing a £70 million transfer of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid.
This transfer will enable Atletico to offload striker Samu Omorodion to Chelsea for approximately £35 million, a separate deal from Conor Gallagher’s £33.7 million transfer.
Gallagher is expected to arrive in Madrid on Tuesday to finalize a five-year contract after agreeing to the move on Monday morning.
Chelsea is also aiming to bring in Napoli’s Victor Osimhen while young defender Alfie Gilchrist is set to join Sheffield United on loan.
The club is nearing a £20 million deal for 16-year-old Gremio midfielder Gabriel Mec.

Conor Gallagher is due in Madrid on Tuesday to sign a five year contract with Atletico
The Blues have engaged in discussions with Atletico regarding a possible move for Omorodion as they seek to strengthen Enzo Maresca’s attacking options.
Omorodion is part of Spain’s Olympic squad and scored against Egypt during the group stages.
Other clubs, including AC Milan, Roma, Napoli, Nottingham Forest, and West Ham, have also shown interest in the forward.
He joined Atletico in August 2023 on a five-year contract, later going on loan to Granada, where he netted eight goals in 34 LaLiga matches.

Chelsea has advised Gallagher that it would be advantageous for him to move on, as the midfielder is set to sign a five-year contract with Atletico.
Although Gallagher was open to remaining at Chelsea, he desired a longer contract than the two-year offer he received with an option for another year.
Additionally, the London club has been in discussions with Napoli regarding a potential deal for forward Victor Osimhen, while Romelu Lukaku could be heading to Serie A.
Chelsea has expressed considerable interest in Osimhen in recent seasons, given his impressive performances in Italy.
The club is also eager to offload Lukaku permanently after loaning the Belgian for the past two seasons.
Since his £80 million move from Lille in 2020, Osimhen has made a significant impact at Napoli, registering 76 goals in 133 appearances and playing a vital role in their Serie A title-winning campaign in the 2022-23 season.
He signed a new contract last December, extending his commitment to Napoli until 2026, which included a major salary increase and a release clause believed to be €130 million (£113 million).
