Jennifer Garner dedicated significant time at the gym to return as Elektra in the upcoming “Deadpool & Wolverine” film.
On Monday, Garner shared on Instagram that while she was fit two decades ago during the filming of “Elektra,” she needed to step up her fitness game for a Marvel movie.
In the video, the 52-year-old actress demonstrated challenging workout routines that got her into exceptional shape for her high-octane cameo. She reminisced about the moment Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy approached her with the proposal to revive her role for the third installment of “Deadpool.”

“Besides trying to make my kids’ preschool friends believe I was a secret ninja, I hadn’t wielded Elektra’s sais since 2004; I was fit, but not Marvel fit,” she added.

“I never anticipated that Elektra and I needed closure, but Shawn and Ryan certainly did. They possess a remarkable ability to elevate those around them,” Garner reflected. “Shauna and I felt elated on set with them, alongside my dear friends @thehughjackman, @dafnekeen, @channingtatum, @realwesleysnipes. Filming the fight scenes was an absolute blast, being together felt like a dream.”
The actress concluded, “I’m proud of my friends and thankful to be sharing this experience. Simply saying thank you doesn’t suffice, but I will find the right words eventually.”
