British swimming sensation Adam Peaty secured a silver medal at the Paris Olympics last week, but his experience at the Summer Games seemed to leave him feeling unfulfilled.
Peaty expressed that the dining options at the Olympic Village fell short, leaving athletes craving more, with some reportedly disturbed by the food quality.

“The catering isn’t up to par for the level at which athletes are expected to perform,” Peaty stated to U.K.’s iNews. “We must provide the highest quality possible. In Tokyo, the food was exceptional. Rio was fantastic. But this time? There weren’t enough protein options, with long queues that had us waiting 30 minutes for meals due to a lack of queue management.”
He added that the Paris Games’ sustainability goals have influenced the food offerings. Reports indicate that 60% of the meals served are meatless, and at least 33% are plant-based.
“I enjoy my fish, and some people have found worms in the fish. This is just unacceptable. The standard should reflect that we are dealing with the world’s elite athletes, and we aren’t providing them with the best,” he asserted.

Organizers of Paris 2024 informed iNews that they are working to provide more dining options.
“We are attentive to athlete feedback and take it very seriously,” said a spokesperson for Paris 2024. “Since the village opened, our partner Sodexo Live! has been adapting supplies in response to the increased patron usage of the Olympic Village restaurants, as well as the actual consumption observed during the initial days.”
“Consequently, we have significantly increased the availability of certain products and have deployed additional staff to ensure a smooth service.”
