Serena Williams was among the American sports icons who traveled to France to support Team USA’s quest for gold at the Paris Olympics this week.
However, her time in Paris as a visitor likely fell short of her expectations.

Williams, who snagged an Olympic gold medal in 2012, expressed her dissatisfaction with the service at The Peninsula Paris through a post on X.
“Yikes @peninsulaparis I’ve been barred from the rooftop to dine in (an) empty restaurant of nicer places,” she remarked on the platform, “but never with my kids. There’s always a first time.”
The Peninsula Paris seemed to respond with an apology.

“Dear Mrs. Williams,” the hotel replied, “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you faced this evening.
“Regrettably, our rooftop bar was fully booked, and the only vacant tables you noticed belonged to our gourmet restaurant, L’Oiseau Blanc, which was completely reserved.
“We have always felt privileged to host you and look forward to welcoming you again.”
She did not react to the hotel’s apology. Instead, Williams shared a video of the United States men’s volleyball game against Brazil on her Instagram Stories.
Williams was also one of the torchbearers for the Paris Olympics.
