  • Conor Leahy celebrated with a kiss from his stunning girlfriend post-race

Australian cycling star Conor Leahy was treated to a loving kiss from his beautiful girlfriend after helping his team conquer their rivals from Great Britain in the men’s team pursuit.

Leahy, along with teammates Oliver Bleddyn, Sam Welsford, and Kellan O’Brien, defeated the dominant British squad to claim gold at the Olympic Games in Paris, finishing with a swift time of three minutes and 42.067 seconds.

After achieving his Olympic champion status, Leahy rushed to the crowd to embrace his girlfriend Zara Awramenko.

She later posted on Instagram to celebrate her partner and his team.

‘Olympic champions!’ she exclaimed, adding four gold medal emojis.

‘Congratulations boys on an epic race and a gold medal.’

The team set a new world record during their semi-final on Tuesday, but they didn’t need to replicate that speed to defeat the British team.

The final was thrilling, but two British cyclists collided on the last lap, almost crashing and affecting their performance.

Leahy was only a reserve during the Tokyo Games and couldn’t hide his excitement after the victory on Wednesday.

‘I still don’t think I’ve fully grasped it,’ he told Nine. ‘Especially considering what transpired in the last cycle. I was desperate to be part of that team, and being so close only fueled my determination to reach this point.’

‘But today was all about winning, and I knew we did everything to achieve it. I can hardly believe it.’

‘It’s simply incredible.’
