An Australian field hockey athlete has reportedly been detained under suspicion of purchasing cocaine in Paris.
Crime journalist Jean-Baptiste Marty revealed details of the alleged arrest on X, previously known as Twitter, on Wednesday evening.
‘An Australian representative from the field hockey team was apprehended last night for buying cocaine on a street in the 9th arrondissement of Paris,’ he stated.
‘The individual selling the drugs, who had 75 ecstasy tablets, 3g of 2-MMC, and seven vials of cocaine, was also taken into custody.’
Daily Mail Australia has reached out to the Australian Olympic Committee and Hockey Australia for their statements.
It remains unclear whether the apprehended player is male or female, but both teams, the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras, were eliminated in the quarterfinals earlier this week.
More updates will follow.
