A man from Massachusetts was airlifted by a Black Hawk helicopter following a medical emergency while he was hiking in a secluded area with his family.

According to a news release from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, officials were alerted at approximately 2:14 p.m. on Tuesday about a 52-year-old man experiencing a medical emergency between two summits on the Kinsman Ridge Trail in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

The agency mentioned that the trail is situated around 4 miles from the closest trailhead, which complicated the rapid rescue response.
